Sunlit Restormel Castle under stormy skies

A long view of the countryside around Restormel Castle near Lostwithiel
12/07/2009
I took this shot early in July on a windy, showery morning when the clouds were moving quickly across the sky, creating rapidly changing light conditions. The 12th century Restormel Castle, near Lostwithiel in southeast Cornwall, is towards the right side of the picture.

I wanted to capture the unevenness of the light on the landscape, which can sometimes add depth to a picture that would be missing if the whole scene was well lit. I took a series of shots as the sun appeared and disappeared, and this one is closest to showing the effect I was looking for.
